Yippy [OTCMKTS:YIPI]: Reimagining Data Experience in Search Appliances

Yippy

CIO VendorRichard Granville, CEO
Yippy’s technology was born out of the Carnegie Mellon University. In 2010, Yippy, in its early years acquired an unlimited world-wide perpetual license for software known as Velocity—considered as the most powerful search engine at present—from Vivisimo. Vivisimo was later bought by IBM, leaving Yippy as the only other company with the exclusive and transferable rights to Velocity which is the same software that powers IBM Watson Explorer. “IBM is our third-largest shareholder with a staked interest in Yippy. We noticed an opportunity to enhance IBM's security approach through the use of Yippy’s connector frameworks saving our customers time and money. Our appliance really is quite special,” explains Richard Granville, CEO, Yippy.

At this point, Yippy built and acquired 5,000+ pre-built smart connectors and implemented a security package on top of the connector framework to deliver the first-of-its-kind curated and accurate content. After observing that security measures often slow down the process of enterprise search, Granville decided to implement security at the connector level and not at the program level. The integration of connectors and internally developed security packages now provides a fluid and faster transactional time to queries. “In case of high-velocity situations involving tones of transactions and documents, Yippy offers up to five times faster indexing speed than other search engines, with far less hardware requirements in comparison to other systems. Our costs are low, and footprints even lower,” highlights Granville. For one, Yippy is the outcome of best-of-breed software, combined with cutting-edge security, analytics, visualization, and compliance tools.

Unifying Information Access

Yippy Search Appliance is unique because of its wide range of unmatchable features. The engine's unique clustering technology enables users to navigate big data sets by topical categories dynamically to derive meaningful relations. The search engine can cluster or data shape categories on the fly through hierarchical agglomerative algorithms, empowering a user to achieve quick results and familiarize with concepts in data sets that were previously unknown. The technology also includes entity extraction, eDiscovery, and concept trending for sentiment analysis to give comprehensive insights into data. For structured navigation, index filters allow users to refine search attributes based on location and content type. “Yippy allows you to search everything with complete data unification with single sign-on.

Enterprise data unification is the next big movement in the industry, and those that have the abilities (systems and connectors) will become the market leaders,” explains Granville.

Instead of toggling between Box, Jira, Salesforce, and SharePoint in search of information from millions of documents, Yippy unifies everything in a single view with single sign on, you can even search all the content in your email attachments in real time which is really cool

Today, a common shortcoming with most information-based companies is that they use disparate systems that break up enterprise search instead of unifying access to data through a single system. Yippy, on the other hand, unites all Microsoft products and major business applications into a single view. “Instead of toggling between Salesforce, Dropbox, or SharePoint in search of a particular piece of information from millions of documents, Yippy provides a single sign-on functionality that streamlines data access to all major business software products with sub second results. This level of productivity is essential for any organization,” mentions Granville. Yippy Search Appliance has a fully documented connector source factory that monitors, maintains, and updates the connectors on a 24/7 basis. The company maintains the market’s largest collections of content connectors that are available for content federation and harvesting of public, private, structured, or unstructured data, combined with a top-notch document and field-level security. This secure unified content strategy ensures that only a user or group with permission is allowed to see a document in their search results and access a document to the field level. The Yippy Search platform helps organizations find and lock down abandoned files from production and legacy data systems to improve document security. For companies that prefer a SaaS solution, all the features of the Yippy Search Appliance can also be extended as a public, private, or hybrid cloud solution.

"The strength of our search appliance and cloud lies in its best-in-class security measures combined with a superior search experience with sub-second search results"

The All-in-One Search Engine

Bearing in mind that cloud is not always the preferred choice for institutions with intensive security or intellectual property concerns and require an on-premise solution or a suitable replacement for Google Search Appliance (GSA), the Yippy Search Appliance is the best GSA alternative and certainly the best search appliance at present. It goes without saying that Yippy Search Appliance emerged as the solution of choice for one of the largest and most prominent credit unions in the world.

Yippy was the only vendor that passed all of the client’s security needs which are very intense for the financial community. With the sunset of GSA, the credit union supporting over 600,000 members, was on the lookout for an on-premise solution with very little time on hand to implement it. Following the installation of Yippy Search Appliance, the proof of concept phase was up and running in a day. Above all, with Yippy, the credit union brought down its time to present search results from 21 seconds to one second, and the indexing time for new or updated content was also reduced by half.

Being a plug-and-play solution, Yippy Search Appliance is industry-agnostic and easily integrates with the needs of any industry, such as legal, healthcare, banking, government, or law enforcement. The company has a string of strong use cases that reflect on how Yippy upped the productivity game for their customers. “We reduced research time for a call-center reducing the average call from 6 minutes to 3 minutes. Our data shaping technology empowered legal departments to radically enhance eDiscovery for evidence and discovery generation,” narrates Granville. Apart from providing top-line security, search, and data unification, Yippy also goes the extra mile to customize the user interface and conduct comprehensive on-site training programs or fully managed “Search as a Service.” The company provides APIs that allow users to achieve distinct data visualizations in their internal and external site displays. In situations where clients want to build their front-ends, the company even offers 30 pre-designed templates. “Moreover at Yippy, we don't utilize third-party contractors for deployments. Every solution is built in-house which eliminates any chance of delays or security issues,” says Granville.

Having unified all of Microsoft's products into its solution, Yippy now has its eyes on Google products, such as Google Drive and G Suite. The company is unifying all Google Enterprise products and consequently extending their content connectors in the first half of 2018. Yippy is also geared to expand its products globally, and this will be achieved through value-added resellers positioned in Europe and Asia. Furthermore, between now and early 2019, the company will invest special focus on assisting those clients that are looking for an alternative solution to GSA. “There are a significant number of search appliances that need to be replaced, and Yippy is by far the best of breed search technology available at a lower cost of ownership than GSA,” says Granville.

All in all, Yippy is the key to smart data. Now organizations world over can finally stop searching and start finding meaningful data.
